Facts

KB710 VR-W May 12-13 1944 Louvain The Marshalling Yards at Louvain Belgium, were not to be an easy target, the target was covered in a thick ground haze as well as heavy smoke from a large explosion which had occurred east of the targeted area. Attacked at some point by a nightfighter, the Lancaster crashed at Sint-Genesius-Rode aproximately 12 km to the South of the city of Brussels. The entire crew were lost, as well as the crew of KB713. In KB710 F/O Smith the aircrafts pilot, had completed a total 22 operations, all the other crew members had completed at least 16 missions.
