Facts

The aircraft took off at 9:39 p.m. Leconfield. After dropping bombs, it is hit, either by firing Flak or by a German fighter and crashed near Ciney. The pilot, Fl / Sgt Dennis Barr, 21, and the rear gunner Sgt Basil Orrick, 19, were killed. They are both based in Hotton War Cemetery Hotton, south of Liège. The gunner Sgt Alfred Broddle taken prisoner (Stalag Luft 7 PoW No. 557).
The other four members of the crew manage to escape.
