According with the SPG Breakout Report 3350/1352 of Comete Line, the aircraft took off at 11:52 p.m. from Wickenby. Five men were killed, P/Off Pilot Robert Frederick Ayres, Mechanic Sgt Victor Basil Foy, Fl/Off Bomber Stuart Percival Barter and Machine Gunners Sgt Sylvester Heartley and Sgt Charles Clifford Allen Gardner. They are all buried in Belgium, Ayres, Barter and Hartley in the Sint Jan Cemetery in Courtrai/Kortrijk, Foy and Gardner in Oudenaarde. Fl/Sgt Denzil N. Ede will be taken prisoner and interned at Stalag Luft 7 - prisoner N° 79.
