Facts

Target – Louvain, Bomber Force – 105 Lancasters - No.XV Squadron detailed 14 aircraft to attack the railway yards. Workshops and storage buildings were hit. The Squadron lost one aircraft during the attack, Lancaster, LL752, LS-G, piloted by Flt Lt Alan Amies. The aircraft was shot down by an enemy night-fighter piloted by Oberleutenant Hans-Heinz Augenstein, of IV Gruppe, Nachtjagdgeschwader (IV./NJG1).
