Facts

On December 23, 1944 at 11:30 am, Bernard Gunnill, 21, and his navigator F/ Sgt Henry Hanson (22) took off with their Beaufighter V8402-TW-F from the West Raynham base for a patrol.
During their flight over northern Belgium, they will not meet a German night fighters, and yet their plane crashed at Kalmthout for an unknown reason. The two airmen died and are now at the Schoonselhof.
The Beaufighter V8402 is the first loss of the new group 100.
