Facts

Takeoff at 21:43 hrs for an operation to Karlsruhe in Germany.
Homeward-bound, the aircraft was attacked by night fighter pilot Oberfeldwebel Gerhard Graefe of the 11./NJG 1, who was flying Bf 110 G-4 G9+VY from St Trond (Sint-Truiden) airfield. Both aircraft went down in the engagement, the Luftwaffe pilot being the only survivor.
The RAF crew all rest in Heverlee War Cemetery at Leuven in Vlaams-Brabant.
