156 Sqdn Lancaster III ED857 GT-, Op Duisburg. Took off 0013 Warboys. Crashed in the target area.
All were taken to Dusseldorf and the Nordfriedhof for burial, and six now rest in the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery. P/O Giles, however, lies in Hotton War Cemetery, Belgium.
His DFM had been Gazetted on 12 March 1943, while the awards to F/S Banks and F/S Pritchard were not published until 20 July 1945.
