Facts

Wellington X3711 VR-R aircraft set off from RAF Topcliffe airport on an evening operation over Karlsruhe, Germany.
The operation completed, the Wellington was attacked, at about 0210hrs on its return flight back to base, by a German nightfighter.
The aircraft came down 9km NNW of Dinant, Belgium, at Warnant, with the loss of 5 airmen. All five air crew members were laid to rest in the Warnant-Les-Dinant Communal Cemetery.
