Desmond Kay was a Battle of Britain who earned his DFC in the Battle of Dunkirk flying Bolton Paul Defiants and was credited with 4 kills in total in the BOB. When he was screened on fighters he managed his way into Bomber Command where he was sent to 109 Squadron for Oboe marking duties. He was killed on his 84th op with Bomber Command. Kay commanded C flight at 109 Squadron.
