Facts

Vickers Wellington MkIII, ser.no. BJ987, call sign PP-L or ZP-L of 25 Operational Training Unit took off from RAF Finningley at 20:22 on 10th September 1942 for a bombing raid on Dusseldorf. Presumed crashed in North Sea and body washed ashore. After this, due to unacceptable losses,the RAF ceased to use crews still under training in such missions.
The navigator F.Sgt Cleveand EGGLETON RCAF is also buried in Oostduinkerke, pilot F/Sgt Richard BERTRAM RCAF is buried in Adegem and Sgt Frank GALLAGHER RCAF and Sgt Richard GEORGE RCAF were never found.
